2017 Summer Mission Trips

The Senior Youth Group traveled to Marvell, Arkansas, a small community facing economic challenges as the agriculture industry struggles.  The youth repainted a day care where tuition was charged on the family's ability to pay.  They also organized a Kids Camp in the afternoons, playing games, doing crafts and making friendships.  At a local animal shelter, the youth walked the dogs, petted the cats, and cleaned out the van!!  God used these youth to make a real difference in this community.  God used this community to make a real difference in the lives of the CAUMC youth. This included eleven CAUMC Youth, Peggy Riley, Bekah Fillmore, and Spencer Sperling.

The Mid-High Mission trip focused on issues of hunger, poverty, and food security.  They traveled to Omaha, NE working with the BIG GARDEN, a Volunteer in Mission site of the United Methodist Church.  The youth learned about food security while filling garden bids with dirt in neighborhoods where grocery stores were scarce.  While learning about hunger and poverty, the youth assembled sack lunches to be distributed to the homeless, sorted clothes at a thrift shop, and refilled spice containers at Table Grace (a restaurant that only charges what you are able to give).  God worked in a BIG way through and in these youth.  Peggy Riley and Eric Williams were sponsors for this event.

The youth fund their mission trip through football parking.
